The family Gouthière was setled at Saulcy since several centuries. Since 1750, we lived in Saulcy between Agriculture and vine
After 1824, Charles Gouthière got just a wine grower. He founded the first generation and now, we are the 6th one to serve you.
In XVIIIe and XIXe century, the vine grower cultivated his vineyard in order to sell his grappes to big houses of champagne. Champagne was drunk enough the european & royal countries. It was not easy to develo your bussiness (no contact). In our area, we had met famous men like Napoleon. Napoleon drunk one bottle after each battle. He stayed several years next to Saulcy (Brienne le chateau).
It was the big disease for the vine. It was a very big crack (economical & vine). A new foot system has developped to die this desease.
We used always nowadays this system.

It was a big crack in Champagne. It was the firt point to create in 1951 the CIVC. After 1911, it begun to organize the champagne (area & AOC).
This crisis is the more important in the champagne history.
Many vine growers have kept their vines in AOC Champagne...

It was the very big crue (important water volume & rebuild investment). Some bridges were have to rebuild because the water force is important.
We have the most battles in Champagne (Taxi de la marne). The vineyards were destroyed. In fact, no wine, no bottle during 4 years. Men are in war and women try to make culture and guns fabrications.

After phyloxera, a big crue, a revolution and a war, it haqd been the first fun pary since 50 years.
Each village created its own flowers tank with a beautiful woman "miss 1921".
On its picture, you have seen our grand father next to the symbol of 1911 : Pierre GOUTHIERE and the famous Gaston Cheq (revolution leader in 1911).
Each person in the post card was died today.
Champagne was the first AOC to organize between big houses, wine growers.
It was the point to begin to elaborate some rules.
The Champagne AOC area is independant of this decret nowadays

In 1973, Gerard Gouthière settled himself. He began with 1 ha. With a other job (employee in vine), he tries to develop his bussiness.
after 1985, bussiness is developped in bottle market.
Fredy Gouthiere settled in 1994 after shool of vine knowledges.
Our domain grow each and we invest to continue todevelop the quality and the regularity of our different blendings.
